Job Summary
The Community Work Study Program (CWS) provides federal financial aid eligible students the opportunity to work part-time at non-profit organizations that serve the public interest.
Goals of this program include:
Develop interest in public service through employment with TAMIU and be assigned to local non-profit, government, or community-based organizations.
Apply skills and theories gained through coursework to solve problems and explore issues outside the classroom.
Enhance career competencies, such as critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and leadership.
Articulate how experiences will shape personal, academic, and professional pursuits.

Position Overview
The Marketing Program Intern will support the Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association (WBCA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring George Washington’s legacy through large-scale community events that promote unity, tourism, and education. This role is ideal for students interested in marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or event promotion. Interns will gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, and campaign planning while contributing to one of Laredo’s most historic celebrations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the planning and execution of marketing campaigns for WBCA events such as McMonday, the Jalapeño Festival, the IBC Youth Parade, and the Air Show, and many more.
Create and schedule engaging social media content, including graphics, videos, and interactive posts.
Support the development of marketing reports and sponsorship presentations using data insights and promotional outcomes.
Help design flyers, posters, and other promotional materials to be used in both print and digital formats.
Contribute to public relations efforts by coordinating outreach with media outlets and community partners.
Assist in managing Google Ads, social media analytics, and other digital tools to track engagement and improve campaign effectiveness
Participate in staff meetings and event briefings, offering creative input and support during event execution.
Provide general clerical and administrative support to ensure smooth communication across departments.
Minimum Requirements
Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate
