Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers' financial analysis team translates raw numbers into actionable insights to tell the story of past financial results and forecast possibilities into the future. The team acts as an independent party to collaborate with business partners and enable them to make informed decisions rooted in economic reality. As a Sr Manager, Financial Analysis, supporting the Market Facing Operations organizations (Small & Middle), you will provide financial ownership and insight across their budget, forecast, multi-year plan (MYP), cost-benefit analyses (CBAs), and ad hoc analysis. As a partner to the business, you will interpret, communicate, and apply analyses in a way that resonates with the intended audience. You will act as a subject matter expert on interpretations of trends in business performance and may coach and mentor members of the team. Beyond financial expertise you’ll provide thought leadership and strategic guidance to help shape decisions and drive business performance.

What Will You Do?

Finance lead for the Market facing Operations Organizations (Small & Middle):

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly financial results & analysis with robust commentary.
  • Prepare and present financial insights to these areas, answering most questions.
  • Active team member in these three business areas participating in monthly team meetings, internal meetings on strategic initiatives and monthly operating reviews.
  • Fully accountable for the annual plan, monthly forecast, tracking changes/variance from plan and MYP.
  • Partner closely with the BI Finance community to ensure alignment.

Financial Analysis, Reporting & Budgeting/Forecasting:

  • Prepare, evaluate, and validate complex financial and operational reports focusing on improving the process of completing these tasks and the effectiveness of the content delivered while ensuring accuracy and help synthesizing data into impactful observations.
  • Perform analysis of trends and variances in business performance against broad business objective.
  • Perform testing and validation of data and analyses with a strong understanding and ability to communicate data limitations and gaps.
  • Manage the creation of complex analyses to support business strategy.
  • Participate and/or lead in projects that involve complex analysis and implementation of non-complex, routine business and financial regulatory changes relating to financial reporting, such as reorganizations.
  • Assit in the development of annual expense budgets and forecasts by providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor actual expenses against budgeted and forecasted amounts, investigating, and explaining variances as necessary.
  • Continuously improve budgeting and forecasting processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency. 
  • Provide coaching, training, and mentoring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in finance or accounting or professional designations such as CPA, CMA or comparable advanced professional education.
  • Experience with Financial Analysis concepts, principles and processes and accounting practices and principles.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of management.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and develop employees.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret trends and provide insights and recommendations to business partners.
