About the role
Guest Experience Representatives are the welcoming faces of the Metropolitan Opera and are the first to greet patrons at events and performances. Stationed in the front plaza and entrance lobbies of the Opera House, they create an inviting and welcoming atmosphere at all primary customer-facing touchpoints. They are an integral part in providing safe and efficient ingress and egress in all conditions, as well as connecting visitors with Met Opera services.
Guest Experience Representatives are generally scheduled for 4-hour shifts at a time, and hours can vary weekly and will include daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.This role is a part-time position and is on a performance call and as needed basis, based on the performance and event schedule.

Primary Responsibilities
- Greet all guests attending performance at the Metropolitan Opera in a warm, welcoming manner, and provide directions to appropriate locations for guests attending other events at the Lincoln Center campus.
- Assist guests during intermissions.
- Provide accurate event information, including directions within and outside of the Opera House.
- Notify supervisory staff and/or security and safety staff of any emergency situations immediately as they occur.
- Direct guests to accessible points of entry.
- Direct guests to appropriate personnel to resolve guest issues.
- Assist guests at the Box Office lobby.
- Navigate scheduling software to retrieve shift information, record work hours, and receive/share relevant performance information.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven customer service experience that meets the expected standards of the Metropolitan Opera.
- Very adaptable and willing to quickly learn and implement new front-of-house procedures and technology, including updates to safety protocol, as necessary.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, adapt, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for varying periods of time.
- Multi-lingual is a plus but not required.
- Basic knowledge of opera helpful but not required.
- Pleasant personable demeanor and a strong desire to assist a diverse pool of visitors.
- Must be willing to obtain an F03/F04 fireguard license.
Physical Demands
- Ability to climb steps repeatedly.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to hold and carry up to 15lbs.
- Ability to bend, stretch, reach and kneel without restriction.
- Work in a fast-paced, busy environment with environmental conditions such as noise, heights, dark/dim/absence of lighting.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in rain, winter conditions or summer conditions.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
