Northwest Medical Center - Bentonville, accredited by The Joint Commission, is a 128-bed acute care facility offering cardiac care, including open-heart surgery and cardiac catheterization. The women's center features maternity care suites with home-like comfort in The Family Birth Place, and they were first in the state of Arkansas to introduce the newest low-intervention birthing options, including a suite with a Murphy bed and birthing tub as well as nitrous oxide as a pain relief option. The Orthopedic and Spine Center focuses on joint, muscle and bone injuries. The emergency department holds Chest Pain Center accreditation and is recognized by the Arkansas Department of Health as an Arkansas Stroke Ready Hospital. In 2021, the Arkansas Institute for Performance Excellence awarded Northwest Health the highest-level, Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence. An award focused on continuous quality improvement and not presented every year, only 27 Arkansas organizations have received the highest-level award.

HistoryNorthwest Medical Center – Bentonville has a rich history of service to the community, dating back to 1942. It was through the visions of Andrew Jackson Bates, his wife Ellen and the community leaders of Bentonville that Bates Memorial Hospital became a reality in 1942. The 12-bed hospital at 302 S Main was the first hospital in Benton County and the second in Northwest Arkansas.
In April 1964, Bates Memorial Hospital opened a new 35-bed hospital located at 602 N Walton Boulevard. On July 1, 1996, the hospital merged with Northwest Medical Center – Springdale, forming Northwest Health.
Job Summary
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of all hospital and/or health system operations. The CEO ensures the success of the hospital through quality enhancement, cost containment, revenue growth, and the development of strong relationships with hospital staff, board members, and community leaders. This role provides strategic direction, financial oversight, and operational leadership to drive efficiency, optimize patient care, and ensure regulatory compliance. The CEO collaborates with corporate leadership, physicians, and key stakeholders to implement policies, improve hospital performance, and support long-term growth initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Oversees hospital operations to ensure high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient care while meeting strategic and financial objectives.
- Develops and implements hospital policies, procedures, and long-term strategic plans in collaboration with system leadership.
- Provides leadership to hospital managers, directors, and officers to promote engagement, ownership of goals, and participation in decision-making.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, working closely with the Chief Nursing Officer and other leaders to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with physicians, taking a leadership role in physician recruitment and retention to support service line growth and patient care.
