About the Role
Culmen is looking to hire an Acquisition Engineering Support Specialist to support the Communications and Intelligence Support Systems (CISS) program with the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
This role involves working on complex, classified acquisition matters related to Special Operations Forces (SOF)-unique Electronic Intelligence Systems, Special Communications Systems, and Imagery Intelligence Systems.
This is a full-time, onsite position located in Joint Base MacDill (Tampa), FL.
The Specialist will provide professional systems and other engineering input to organize, coordinate, and oversee critical operational and integration engineering efforts in support of SOF customers in the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapons systems, support systems, equipment items, or equivalent products.
What You’ll Do in Your New Role
- Plan and perform technical aspects of acquisition efforts for all PM-CISS Assistant Program Managers, applying systems engineering and technical management processes.
- Analyze, review, and monitor the technical execution of projects, including resources of time and money, for systems acquisition and advanced technology projects.
- Establish and review program baselines to achieve engineering, cost, and schedule goals, making logical decisions based on available technologies and systems engineering practices.
- Provide technical input during source selection evaluations for new or modified SOF equipment.
- Process sensitive/classified information in accordance with security policies and procedures to prevent unauthorized disclosure or compromise.
- Comply with established security policies, directives, and regulations, reporting all violations to the supervisor or security program manager.
- Organize, conduct, and monitor engineering design and development activities for PEO, PM, or Command programs.
- Provide input to IPTs in the development, fielding, and sustainment of SOF-unique electronic equipment systems by developing, reviewing, and analyzing technical and engineering requirements.
- Monitor program risk and support mitigation strategies throughout the system life-cycle.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve problems that could impact project success.
- Assess and report progress, including budgeting, funding, cost estimates, schedules, supportability, and performance baseline requirements.
- Provide input to program managers, component combat developers, other government agencies, researchers, headquarters staff, and industry to maintain and expand knowledge of technology programs and policies.
- Prepare, review, and update required program documentation.
- Develop metrics and perform analysis to ascertain needed changes or modifications to production methods, procedures, and/or approaches.
- Develop, review, and provide input to various technical/acquisition reports and documents, such as specifications, statements of work, test plans, and test reports.
- Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with engineering counterparts, IPT members, and technical functional specialists.
- Provide input to special projects/initiatives and perform special assignments.
- Identify the need for special projects and initiate approved projects.
- Evaluate reports by analyzing facts, performing appropriate research, and preparing detailed responses.
- Provide input to appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and perform follow-up.
- Research and provide input to appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact the organization, installation, command, or agency.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field (e.g., Math, Science) AND 10+ years of general experience with 6+ years of relevant experience in a program or resource management office
OR
- Bachelor’s degree or professional certificate in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field AND 12+ years of general experience with 8+ years of relevant experience in a program office.
