Senior Data Software Engineer

The Identity engineering organization builds and manages Microsoft’s identity platform for all of Microsoft’s cloud services and products including Azure, Microsoft 365 and Xbox. We boldly pursue big ideas that power transformational advances in security, user management, access management, identity governance, etc. Identity engineering team members have deep technical expertise, customer insights, and a clear point of view that comes from first-hand experience running very large-scale services.  The Microsoft Entra Identity Governance Team is hiring a Senior Data Software Engineer to reshape security and deliver end-to-end, simplified solutions that empower every user, customer, and developer. You’ll have the opportunity to build a next-generation Identity Governance platform with AI and Copilot experiences, empowering customers to efficiently manage and secure identity access within their organizations. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with experience building and running mission critical cloud services. This candidate will be a technical leader who can build well architected systems and advocate software engineering best practices within the team. This Hybrid Position is located at our Microsoft office in Mountain View, California. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the field location. 

Responsibilities

• Design and develop large scale distributed software services and solutions  
• Adhere to and drive modern software engineering practices through design reviews  
• System design through well-defined interfaces across multiple components, code reviews, leveraging data/telemetry to make decisions  
• Partner with and mentor team members 
• Model best practices for quality and live site-focus 
• Exercise a willingness to learn and share while collaborating with researchers, data scientists and cross-functional teams to improve the AI Platform’s capabilities and address customer requirements 
• Improve test coverage for services, organize and implement integration tests, and resolve problem areas 
• Consider testability, portability/monitoring, reliability, and maintainability, and understands when code is ready to be shared and delivered .
• Focus on customer/partner needs through a data driven approach  
• Troubleshoot and optimize automation, reliability, and monitoring for Live Site.
