Manager Engineering Projects – MCS Project Portfolio Manager

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible to oversee the Manufacturing Clinical Supply (MCS) Capital Project Portfolio, financial submissions and tracking, workforce model, governance process, among other needs to ensure successful implementation of the portfolio across MCS. May serve as the project manager for business-critical projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure processes and tools are adequate for the development, execution and implementation of department capital projects.

  • Facilitate Project Review Team forum as per meeting charter.

  • Develop annual department capital portfolio and budget in collaboration with all functional areas across MCS.

  • Provide department capital LO & LE capital updates to Capital Finance as required.

  • Partner with functional leaders in the prioritization exercise to ensure business priorities are considered and embedded in the process.

  • Define and maintain workforce model for capital portfolio execution in collaboration with MCS, GCPM and PCS.

  • Prepare project charter documents, cashflow and schedule to ensure alignment with capital finance policies.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in Capital project financing (rule set) to advise MCS PMs.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in planning and project management to smooth the way for success for MCS PMs.

  • Integrating complete team and drive a continuous improvement approach throughout the project lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree

  • Master’s degree & 2 years of project management experience

  • Bachelor’s degree & 4 years of project management experience

  • Associate degree & 8 years of project management experience

  • High school diploma / GED & 10 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or related field.

  • Experience in the application of project management skills and concepts with an understanding of related engineering subject areas.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a multi-functional area.

  • Excellent communication skills that highlight Amgen values and leadership attributes.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and conflicting priorities across a broad range of facilities and engineering subject areas

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Possesses interpersonal skills to work with technical scientific and management internal user groups

  • Ability to tactfully negotiate and positively influence peers and executive leadership

  • Effective oral, visual and written communication skills with the ability to listen effectively

  • Resilience and flexibility with the ability to react to changes quickly, and the ability to apply knowledge to new problems and new contexts

  • Proficiency in digital tools and systems such as Tableau, SAP, Smartsheet, MS Project, others as needed.
