This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

To support Blue Origin’s ambitious vision of millions of people living and working in space, we are seeking a qualified Construction Project Manager to join our facilities team in Kent, Washington. The Washington Construction Management Team is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of industrial, office, warehouse, and testing facilities to support the rapid growth of aerospace programs at Blue Origin’s headquarters. This Construction Project Manager position will act as an owner’s representative for Blue Origin. This role will have a direct impact on multiple Blue Origin initiatives, including our Blue Engines, New Glenn, New Shepard, and Lunar programs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee multiple construction projects of varying complexity, budget, and duration for new and existing Blue Origin facilities
  • Work with internal customers to gather requirements for construction
  • Lead the Programming and Design Development efforts, often working with external architects and engineering design firms
  • Develop construction cost estimates for business case justifications
  • Reduce expected construction costs through Value Engineering
  • Write Request-For-Proposals, comparing quotes, and issuing purchase orders to the selected vendors, in partnership with our Procurement team
  • Prepare and submit permit packages to the regional cities
  • Permit management, tracking, and documentation
  • Work with the local, regional, state, and national Authorities Having Jurisdiction to ensure construction is completed in a state of compliance to all regulations and codes we are subject to
  • Create baseline project budgets and financial forecasts
  • Manage and track project costs by working closely with Blue Origin’s finance team
  • Develop and manage schedule milestones for design, procurement, construction, and commissioning
  • Coordinate with and hold accountable your General Contractor counterpart to achieve all milestones regarding procurement, construction, and installation activities
  • Manage all RFIs and construction approval submittals
  • Present report-outs to senior leadership on the financial and schedule status of projects
  • Plan and maintain safe construction working environments

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of construction project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent on-the-job experience (4 years of additional experience in lieu of degree)
  • Competence with the Microsoft Software Suite (in particular, MS Project and Excel)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a General Contractor or as a subcontractor to a GC
  • Experience in Industrial or Commercial construction
  • Project Management Certification (PMP or other)
  • Experience in the full lifecycle of a construction project: from requirements gathering to turnover for operations
  • Experience preparing cost estimates using CSI MasterFormat or Uniformat II standards
  • Experience using RSMeans for cost estimation
  • Ability to learn Atlassian’s Jira software for Project Tracking
  • Familiarity with the Critical Path Method
  • Previous budget authority
  • Experience writing Request-For-Proposals
  • OSHA training or certifications
  • Familiarity with IBC, NFPA, NEC, and other building codes
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar software
  • Competency with Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with AIA contracts
