Assistant Professor - Epistemology, Metaphysics, and/or Philosophy of Science - Department of Philosophy and Religion

Description

The Department of Philosophy and Religion is seeking to hire an assistant professor of philosophy, tenure track, who specializes in one or more of the following, Epistemology, Metaphysics, and/or Philosophy of Science, with an August 15, 2025 start date. The successful candidate will have a philosophical research program and promise that corresponds with Clemson University’s Carnegie R1 designation as well as demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The typical course load is 2/2.

The department seeks candidates with broad philosophical training as well as skill and interest in teaching across, and contributing to expanding, the offerings of our thriving undergraduate program. In addition to the AOS areas above, the department has teaching interests in: Aesthetics, Continental Philosophy, History of Philosophy (Ancient, Early Modern, and 19th and 20th Century), Logic and Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Technology, and Social and Political Philosophy. Candidates with the ability to teach within non-Western and Feminist traditions would be particularly welcomed. 

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand by August 15, 2025.
