About the role

Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is expected to be detail and solution-oriented, a good communicator, and have strong problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be confident, professional, and meticulous with a keen interest in the supply chain operations of the organization. Top candidates will be proactive in pursuing solutions, have outstanding presentation and writing skills, with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team while maintaining positive working relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The initial focus of this position will be on intercompany accounting, but with the exciting growth Madrigal is currently experiencing, this position is expected to evolve over time to incorporate other aspects of the close cycle, including responsibilities related to the US parent company.

  • Performance of all month-end intercompany closing activities (working with outsourced EU Accounting personnel and EU colleagues), including preparation of month-end account reconciliations and manual journal entries, and investigation and explanation of any unreconciled items.

  • Review and analyze intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with intercompany agreements and accounting standards.

  • Support Intercompany consolidations processes, including eliminations, billings, and settlements across affiliate entities.

  • Support accounting for all intercompany agreements (transfer pricing, intercompany loan, treasury, royalty agreements, etc).

  • Assist with preparation of statutory financial statements including financial audits and reviews.

  • Work cross functionally with Tax and Supply Chain departments to establish intercompany profit and transfer pricing processes.

  • Assist with EU finance infrastructure projects, as needed

  • Assist with US journal entries, as needed

  • Stay updated on accounting standards, industry regulations, and system enhancements to optimize intercompany processes.

  • All activities of this position will be performed in conformance with our established policies as well as GAAP, SOX, and any other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Other ad-hoc projects as needed.

  • Minimal domestic travel for team meetings (1-2 times per quarter)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience preferred.

  • Intercompany Accounting experience at a company with global operations required (EU experience preferred).

  • Experience with NetSuite and DataRails a plus.

  • Life sciences industry experience a plus.

  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.

  • Ability to analyze current processes and suggest/implement updates to create automations and improve efficiencies.

  • Ability to adjust working hours as needed to support collaboration with global team members in different time zones.

  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.

  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office / Advanced Excel skills.

  • This role will require 3 days per week in office

Compensation: Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
