POSITION SUMMARY
TransMedics is transforming organ transplantation through the Organ Care System (OCS), a groundbreaking platform that preserves and evaluates donor organs outside the body. Our Research team plays a critical role in advancing abdominal organ preservation science and improving patient outcomes worldwide.
The Abdominal Organ Research Intern will support ex vivo kidney perfusion research studies and related scientific initiatives. This role provides hands-on laboratory experience in organ research, data analysis, and study coordination within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
This internship is ideal for students pursuing careers in biomedical research, medicine, or translational science.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Laboratory & Study Support
Assist in running daily ex vivo kidney perfusion studies
Support setup, monitoring, and breakdown of research experiments
Assist with collection and recording of experimental data
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and laboratory standards
Data Collection & Analysis
Support daily data management and preliminary analysis
Maintain organized research records and study documentation
Produce weekly summaries and reports outlining study results and observations
Study Planning & Coordination
Assist in study planning, ideation, and execution
Support tracking of study timelines and deliverables
Contribute to research discussions and cross-functional collaboration
Administrative & Operational Support
Assist with laboratory inventory management
Support scheduling and coordination of study activities
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Engineering and Clinical teams

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct reports.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
- General office environment where there is a significant amount of time at a desk, working on computers and reviewing documents. This requires the ability to sit for extended periods. They also may need to stand for meetings or when moving around the office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate degree program
Major in Biology or a related life sciences field
College Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
Ability to make quick decisions and remain calm under pressure
Highly organized and detail-oriented
