About the Role: The Screenings team is responsible for all functionalities that are client facing and aim to gather client information to identify the needs the client has. The Senior Software Engineer will play a critical role in designing and delivering scalable solutions that streamline screening workflows. They will work closely with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to build high-impact features that drive meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex problems, and are passionate about creating systems that improve access to care. The ideal candidate will have experience building robust APIs, maintaining high standards for code quality, and mentoring teammates while contributing to a mission-driven organization.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to design, build, and enhance our products’ features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code that scales with user needs and system growth.
- Take ownership of end-to-end software development cycles — from architecture and implementation to deployment and monitoring.
- Ensure observability and reliability metrics.
- Help evolve and maintain our platform architecture to support a growing number of referral partners and use cases.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members through code reviews and architectural discussions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability challenges across backend services.
- Actively participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and roadmap discussions to help shape the direction of the team’s work.
- Drive best practices in testing, CI/CD, observability, and agile development.
You’re a great fit for this role if:
- At least 5+ years of software development experience, with strong preference for experience in healthcare.
- Proficiency with Python (Flask/FastApi frameworks), Ruby on Rails and popular front-end JavaScript frameworks, like React.
- Expertise in building and scaling backend services in a production environment or expertise in single page frontend applications.
- Proficiency in relational databases such as Postgres.
- Experience working in a cloud environment (preferably AWS) with containerized applications (e.g., Docker, ECS, Fargate).
- Strong understanding of testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring best practices.
- Experience working in cross-functional agile teams, with a product-focused and customer-centric mindset.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
- This position is remote, U.S. based.
- The target pay range for this role is: $140,000-$175,000. This salary range represents our target hiring range for this role. The proposed salary will be dependent on the candidate's skills, experience, and competencies, as well as location.
- All team members will be required to pass a background check which includes criminal, employment, and education verification
