Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for well qualified Radar Modeling Engineer (Level 2)  or Principal Radar Modeling Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This position requires on site support and can be worked out of our El Segundo CA or San Diego, CA office.  The candidate must be within a commutable distance from the work location.

The selected candidate will perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness - conduct detailed trade studies by building and implementing constructive simulations from the component through the system level.

Essential Functions:  

•    Model operational environments, perform trade studies via computer simulation.

•    Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.

•    Create and apply knowledge of Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to support blue/red kill chains across multiple security environments, programs, architectures, and platforms.

•    Provide blue/red tactics and CONOPS modeling, simulation, and analysis in mission-level models to help accomplish long-term objectives related to program development, execution, and related research and development projects.

•    Perform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”. Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements; develop operationally relevant mission scenarios; assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.

•    Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership.

This requisition may be filled at the Radar Modeling Engineer (Level 2)  or Principal Radar Modeling Engineer (Level 3).

Basic Qualifications:

  • For Level 2 Mission Planning and Analysis Engineer consideration: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and at least 2 years of experience or a Master's degree in STEM discipline.
  • For Level 3 Principal Mission Planning and Analysis Engineer consideration – Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline and at least 5 years of experience or Master's degree in STEM field and at least 3 years of experience.
  • Computer/engineering skills using C#/C++, JAVA, or other Object-Oriented programming languages.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Research, Analysis, and Creating Assessments of Foreign Threats to US Military Operations
    • Vehicle performance analysis
    • Air vehicle survivability analysis
    • Modeling and Simulation of Radars, Missiles, Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS), Air and/or Space platforms
    • Analysis at the Survivability, Lethality, Vulnerability, Engagement, and/or Mission Level
    • Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Protection (EP), Electronic Countermeasures
    • Red and/or Blue CONOPs and TTPs

  • An active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start.
