Head of Preclinical Development

The Head of Preclinical Development will be responsible for planning and overseeing the pharmacology, toxicology and bioanalytical preclinical activities from development candidate through IND submission. The position reports to CSO and Head of R&D and is an integral member of the R&D leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute the preclinical pharmacology, toxicology and bioanalytical studies that support IND submission and non-clinical support of ongoing clinical programs. 
• Ensure that IND enabling studies are conducted in accordance with regulatory guidelines and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). 
• Working with internal preclinical scientist and CRO to launch and execute the IND enabling preclinical pharmacology, toxicology and bioanalytical studies.
• Oversee the analysis, interpretation and reporting of preclinical study data. 
• Prepare the relevant study reports and regulatory documents to support regulatory filings. 
• Collaborate with Discovery Biology, Program Management, CMC and Clinical teams to ensure timely execution of pharmacology, toxicology and bioanalytical studies. 
• Present relevant preclinical results to internal and external stakeholders, including partners, board and scientific conferences. 

Qualifications

• PhD or MD/PhD in relevant scientific discipline (pharmacology, toxicology, biomedical or related field). 
• Proven track record of successful preclinical development of small and/or biologics programs from development candidate to IND submission. 
• 15+ years industry experience, with 8+ years in preclinical development roles.  
• Excellent knowledge of GLP and regulatory guidelines for preclinical studies in immunology and oncology. 
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong project management skills with experience in managing timelines, budgets and resources.
