The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) serves as the coordinating office for externally funded research and sponsored projects at The University of Texas at Austin. The mission of OSP is to assist faculty and professional research staff in their efforts to secure and ensure proper stewardship of external funding. We do so by assisting research faculty and staff with the following: proposal review, authorization, and submission; award negotiations and acceptance; award and account management; close-out, reports, audits, and collection; professional development and education; export control; and research compliance.

Purpose
The Portfolio Manager - TACC on the Post-Award Team in OSP is responsible for directly assisting with the sponsored projects portfolio of the Texas Advanced Computer Center (TACC). This position reports directly to Associate Director of Post-Award, OSP.
Responsibilities
Daily oversight and management of the TACC sponsored project portfolio to include all actions handled by Post-Award in both UTRMS and *Define. Actions include but are not limited to award entry into UTRMS, establishing financial accounts in the OSP portfolio, reviewing and approving expenditures, supporting TACC in problem solving issues, and maintaining financial trackers and reporting to sponsors.
Regularly provide support and direction to TACC to ensure compliance with UT System, University, state and federal rules, regulations and laws as they relate to the sponsored projects in the TACC and OSP portfolio.
Participates and collaborates in meetings with TACC, sponsors, OSP leadership, and University units as needed to help mitigate potential hurdles.
Works closely with the Associate Director of Post-Award and provides regular updates.
Special projects as assigned by Associate Director of Post-Award.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Six (6) years of professional experience in research administration.
Demonstrated experience in overseeing a large, complex portfolio.
Extensive knowledge of federal, state, local and University guidelines and regulations.
The ability and willingness to make independent judgements.
Highly skilled in post-award challenges, with strong analytic and critical thinking skills, accustomed to a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
Exceptional customer service and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient use of MS Word and MS Excel software.
Must work well with others and contribute positively to the organization, team and University.
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
More than ten years of progressively responsible experience in research administration of sponsored research proposals.
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) Certification
Strong familiarity with University grant policies and procedures.
Extensive post-award research administration experience.
Experience with UT Austin systems, including DEFINE, UTRMS, FRMS, and Workday.
Experience providing research administration support in a university setting.
Firm understanding of sponsored project finances, a strong aptitude with Excel, and a firm understanding of post-award grants management.
Salary Range
$90,000 + depending on
