Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
To provide engineering support for daily maintenance activity and other duties as assigned by the departmental head and departmental managers. To ensure plant equipment reliability and add value by integrating plant assets, personnel, technology, within the Utilities Units & Plant wide power system. Work with other maintenance craft departments and operations departments, while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health and safety regulatory and Company requirements.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Process Improvement: Utilizes recognized process techniques and other tools to develop, maintain, and present required reports detailing the effectiveness of existing processes or supporting the need to introduce new process improvements, while ensuring all PSM and environmental requirements are understood and met.
Project Management: Review scope of work with Unit Operation or DDE to ensure project requirements for electrical equipment meet specification. Perform technical calculations and analysis, review and comment on engineering design drawings, and conduct front end engineering studies to create cost/value added tasks required for projects. Communicate with engineering groups to ensure improvements are completed according to best engineering practices and review abnormalities to improve overall performance.
Engineering Procurement: Prepare electrical/instrument specifications and purchase requisitions for material and equipment procurement. Review vendor quotations, evaluate vendor qualifications, report engineering evaluation progress, and track purchase orders and equipment delivery status.
Construction Bid Package Preparation: Prepare and evaluate bid packages, review engineering drawings, and create scope of work that covers all job loads and special requirements. Cooperate with DDE, contractors, and supporting departments to clarify design constructability, interfaces, schedule, and construction cost, and properly use COQ to avoid potential change orders. Prepare cost estimation and coordinate with Unit Operation and vendors to determine hardware, software, and construction material/labor requirements for budget development.
Maintenance Support: Provide I&E support to Operations of the Utilities Units to ensure compliance with State and Federal Environmental Regulations, including preventative maintenance, backup programs, troubleshooting, and training support. Prepare turnover documents for operation, construction, and maintenance activities, and track QA/QC documentation for construction.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
• Education
◦ Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering; other relevant BS Engineering degrees considered.
• Previous Related Experience Required
◦ No experience required, but 1-3 years working experience in chemical/plastics Industry is preferred.
