We are presently in a hybrid schedule, 2 days on campus and 3 days WFH
The Manager's responsibilities include for the maintenance and operation of an ecosystem of servers and applications. They are expected to drive execution via leadership and coordination. They lead their teams in creating and maintaining complex, interconnected systems. They work with technical leads and Team Leads to ensure their systems are performant and resilient, and that projects are appropriately staffed and aligned with business priorities. Responsibilities:

They work with technical leads and Team Leads to ensure their systems are performant and resilient, and that projects are appropriately staffed and aligned with business priorities. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling the services that support the Readiverse’s products.
- Ensures team is aligning work with business priorities.
- Creates Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) to define standards for the performance of their systems and their team’s operational support. Ensures their team meets these standards, and reports on them to upper management.
- Responsible for the long-term health of the applications they oversee.
- Monitors the cost of operating the team’s services and strives to minimize cost where appropriate.
- Proactive in identifying and clearing roadblocks for the team.
- Regularly conducts one on one meetings with team members. Ensures the work of the individual team members is reviewed and that team members receive feedback on their work.
- Identifies single points of failure in our alignment of people, knowledge, or systems and works to resolve them.
- Able to identify areas of strategic technical debt and provide cost/benefit analysis for eliminating this debt and suggested timelines for how to prioritize it.
- Communicates timeline, scope, and technical concerns to upper management.
- Collaborates with other operations teams to identify opportunities and suggest improvements to the Director.
- Proactively identifies potential problems and proposes long-term solutions.
- If supervising team leads, ensures team leads are successful which includes not only advising and coaching but also modeling behavior.
- May work with Team Leads to ensure staff alignment is appropriate to address work demand.
- May work with Team Leads to evaluate individual performance.
- Responsible for hiring, onboarding, and training new team members. Responsible for coaching team to excellent performance and managing performance issues as appropriate.
- Delivers regular performance reviews.
- Builds deep and trusting relationships.
- As a member of the leadership team, demonstrates through decisions, actions, and words a commitment to OverDrive’s mission, our sustainability. and community outreach initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- 5 – 7+ years of related technical experience.
- 2+ years of management experience, leading technical teams.
- Leadership skills; ability to effectively manage others.
- A history of supporting complex, reliable systems.
- Problem solving skills with the ability to understand and communicate specifics of new technologies.
- Able to define and drive development of solutions to meet the needs of the company.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects considering company priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to communicate needs, status, and drive results.
