Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a First Line Manager to lead the High Fidelity Digital Twin (HFDT) Development Team in Berkeley, MO or Long Beach, CA.

This position provides direct support of high fidelity digital twin development activities across multiple Boeing products as part of the HFDT / Virtualization organization. High fidelity digital twins are a rapidly growing segment of the Boeing Company and support all aspects of the product life cycle from concept to development to deployment. The candidate selected will be expected to fill the role of manager, team leader, and mentor, while also assisting technical leaders in collaboration and growth in an innovative environment.  

To be successful in this position the candidate should have experience leading or managing development teams, preferably a software development team. Background in one or more of the following areas is preferred but not required: game development, Unreal Engine, modeling and simulation, software development, integration and test, and avionics systems knowledge. The optimal candidate can manage multiple program activities while also working well with highly skilled engineers. Great communication skills, and a willingness to develop future technical leaders is also required.

The candidate should enjoy working collaboratively with others, have a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement, and be willing to work in a multi-program environment. The selected candidate will lead a team of local and remote software engineers to research and develop capabilities to meet Boeing and customer requirements. As many engineers are remote, this is a hybrid position, with the expectation that a portion of the work week be spent in the on-site. Day-to-day activities include but are not limited to engineering skill management and career development activities of high profile software development teammates. This position provides the opportunity to work on commercial and defense products and it will help define the future of digital twins at the Boeing Company.   

Position Responsibilities:

  • Daily oversight and execution on existing plans, and delivery on program and investment portfolio activity commitments

  • Progress to plan status reporting to SW organization leadership and business partners across multiple Boeing business units

  • Collaborate with existing HFDT / Virtualization team and technical leaders to develop, plan and manage internal budgets and projects supporting Boeing's highly visible HFDT technologies.

  • Support the team's agile development activities

  • Work with the HFDT senior manager, other virtualization and HFDT first line leaders, and organizational senior leadership to develop the Boeing HFDT strategy

  • Work with the organization and software capability to establish resource pipelines that meet staffing needs

  • Handle talent management, including skill and career development of software engineers; tracking and coordination of employee development plans--team located at multiple geographic locations

  • Build positive working relationships with Business Units (BDS, BCA, BGS, etc...) and external customers

  • Oversee and contribute to proposal technical content

  • Work and collaborate with other technology domain leaders to build value and innovation

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience): 

  • 3+ years experience leading a software development project or team

  • 1+ years of agile development

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):  

  • Experience in leading or performing embedded software development

  • Experience in leading or performing game engine or modeling and simulation development

  • Experience in leading or performing program verification and validation testing activities

  • Commitment to customer satisfaction

  • Experience with driving process improvements
