Definition of Class

This position manages departmental programs and activities. The incumbent manages and participates in the operation of programs, promotes the development and administration of objectives and strategic goals, and builds collaborative relationships supporting program activities.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Plans, develops, and executes programs, projects, and other tasks in support of operational goals and needs.
  • Participates in the development of objectives and goals and develops procedures to efficiently manage operations.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures.  
  • Manages and maintains departmental records.
  • Serves as liaison to internal and external constituents.
  • Facilitates communication and networking among staff and faculty to build collaborative relationships.
  • Monitors expenses related to programs.
  • Collects, organizes, maintains, and tracks data.  
  • May supervise, train, and coordinate the activities of subordinate staff.
  • Collects and analyzes data for use in making recommendations, assessing progress, reporting to internal or external constituents, and/or developing proposals.    
  • Attends related meetings and conferences.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

 

AND

 

Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.

 

Substitution Statement:

Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.

Position Details

The School of Business Administration at the University of Mississippi seeks to hire Program Manager for the Department of Marketing, Analytics, and Professional Sales. The successful candidate for this position will manage the programs, activities, and operational functions of the Department. This includes the coordination of facilities and resources, maintaining records and files, planning and organizing the various programs and initiatives in the Department, and administering Study Abroad programs for the School. The position requires knowledge and compliance with University policy and procedures. This position also will also support communication for the Department and affiliates and requires monitoring and editing web content and familiarity with social media sites such as LinkedIn.  The position also entails event planning and the ability to write announcements and simple press releases and the ability to work closely with others in the Department and related professional associations.  Applications must be submitted at careers.olemiss.edu and should include a cover letter that summarizes your qualifications, experience, and skills related to the position as well as a resume.

 

The position also requires knowledge of the basic operation of computers, skill in using the appropriate software tools, and the ability to organize and maintain data files.  Knowledge of event management and bookkeeping are helpful.  The position may involve a small amount of travel that could include international travel.
