Who we are

HII – Mission Technologies is seeking a senior leader as the Director of AUKUS Programs to establish and grow our business presence in Australia and United Kingdom. This position will be based out of our Newport News, VA location but can be flexible. This individual will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, building market entry and growth plans, and driving execution to achieve international business expansion goals. Initially operating as a one-person office, this role will shape the vision, build key customer and partner relationships, and ultimately scale the organization to achieve sustainable market penetration and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the strategic vision for building and expanding our Australian and U.K. businesses, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Business Growth: Identify, pursue, and capture new business in Australian and U.K. markets; lead efforts to penetrate and grow within targeted customer segments (government, defense, commercial, etc.).
  • Market Entry & Expansion: Develop and implement go-to-market strategies, including regulatory, contractual, and operational considerations unique to the Australian and U.K. markets.
  • Customer & Partner Engagement: Build and maintain trusted relationships with key government agencies, industry partners, and customers to establish credibility and secure growth opportunities.
  • Operational Foundation: Establish the organizational and operational structure for our Australia and U.K. entities, including future hiring, compliance, and infrastructure.
  • Collaboration: Partner with U.S. and global leadership teams on strategy, resourcing, and long-term planning. Act as the primary bridge between corporate and our Australian and U.K. operations.
  • Talent & Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team as the business scales.

What you need to have:

  • 10 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; or 8 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field.
  • 12+ years of proven leadership experience in business development, market entry, and general management, within large multi-national companies, preferably with defense, government services, or high-growth technology/engineering sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching or scaling new markets, divisions, and international operations in Australia and U.K.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian and U.K. business, government, and regulatory environment.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships and drive large-scale growth initiatives in Australia and U.K.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship management, and executive presence.

Bonus points for:

  • PMP certification is highly desired for this role.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Broad understanding of Huntington Ingalls Industries.
  • Knowledge of US Trade Controls.
  • International business experience or experience with Australia.
