- Position Summary:
As an essential part of the care team, the Medical Assistant Coordinator acts as a ‘Telehealth Concierge’. In a customer service-oriented manner, interviews patients and/or their representative to collect required data, to include but is not limited to; demographic and financial data as well as obtain required signatures, communicates mandated patient information and verifies all information for accuracy. Process includes but is not limited to insurance verification, obtaining precertification/authorization, co-payment collection and communicating with patient and/or their representative about their financial assistance needs. Works closely with providers within the telehealth program. Provides patients with technical assistance when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assists providers and patients by discussing Telehealth services with patients.
• Demonstrates ability to tactfully handle difficult situations, while maintaining a positive attitude
• Managing incoming calls and providing necessary information.
• Provide and gather patient’s medical documentation as instructed by provider.
• Verification of insurance eligibility/coverage and obtaining necessary pre-certifications/authorizations when applicable.
• Work closely and provide follow up with off-site staff members as needed.
• Scheduling and/or prescheduling patient appointments.
• Develop a working knowledge of Telehealth applications.
• Use Electronic Health Record software to assist clinicians in all clinical observations/information
• Technology troubleshooting (general knowledge of WIFI, internet connectivity). Live support provided as needed.
• Accurately sets up new patient record via Care Connect.
• Ensures the accuracy of all data collected while meeting the regulatory requirements as outlined by the departmental policy.
• Adhere to all standards found within the HIPAA Compliance Privacy Regulations.
• If qualified, may be asked to interpret on occasion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Attributes:
• AAS in Medical Assisting preferred
• One to two years of experience in a medical setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Intermediate computer/technology skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
