The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek Radiation Oncologists (CNS, Thoracic, GI, and GU) to join the Department of Radiation Oncology. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Physician provides licensed medical care including diagnosis, treatment (inclusive of surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management and clinical research. The Physician manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations. The Physician must be competent in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving the above mentioned services. The Physician is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and physician’s standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the James Cancer Hospital and James Outpatient Care, provides advanced personalized radiation oncology care to cancer patients, specific to their individual tumor and clinical situation. The department is an integral part of Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). We provide leading-edge radiation therapy care in an environment of subspecialty radiation oncology expertise, education and translational research.

The signature mission of Radiation Oncology at the James Cancer Hospital is to provide state-of-the-art personalized care for our cancer patients by capitalizing upon the unique expertise of our treatment team, implementing cutting-edge technologies geared to eradicate cancer, and conducting cutting-edge clinical, translational, and basic science research.

Duties and Responsibilities

Physician specializing in Radiation Oncology to serve as a member of the Department of Radiation Oncology; directs and provides direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings; conducts ambulatory clinics; interviews, obtains and reviews medical history of patients; performs physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs; performs Radiation Therapy procedures; orders special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; responds to consultation requests; determines, prescribes and implements treatment plans and/or medications required; documents all services and instructions provided in medical record; educates patients and promotes wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services to patient and their families; directs and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities; serves as preceptor and provides bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing s
