  Hoag is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our Heart & Vascular team in Newport Beach and Irvine, CA. This position will work with our fellowship trained vascular surgeons as we expand Hoag's Vascular Program. At Hoag, our comprehensive Vascular Program provides a multidisciplinary, integrated team approach to caring for vascular disease. Our team includes vascular specialists in Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine.


In this role, the Physician Assistant will partner with the surgeon in all office, hospital, and operating room settings, and over time we envision graduated autonomy for patient care. The team is passionate about providing the best possible surgical care to our patients and this role requires a strong work ethic, excellent clinical skills, compassion, and a commitment to patient-centered care.


Essential Functions

· Participate in inpatient rounds and note preparation.

· First assist on surgical procedures with graduated autonomy. The surgeon will teach advanced skills to the Physician Assistant 

· Well versed in vascular conditions; Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, CADs, DVTs, Peripheral Vascular Disease, RADs and Vasculitis. 

· Write pre-op, post-op and discharge orders.

· Provide prescriptions during pre-operative and post-operative visits. 

· Perform patient history and physical examinations for pre-operative and post-operative patients.

· Review and sign consent forms in preparation for surgery.

· Review post-operative expectations and care plans with patients in preparation for surgery using guidelines provided by the surgeon.


Position Details & Required Qualifications

· Position is located in Newport Beach and Irvine, CA.

· Full-time exempt position, Monday - Friday. Exact daily hours will vary depending on operative and clinic schedules. Role will be focused within the inpatient and outpatient settings with on-call schedule. 

· Prior experience as a surgical physician assistant is strongly preferred.   Experience with suturing, closing, retracting is required. Sclerotherapy experience preferred.
