About the role
Summary
The Department of Biochemistry has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher with experience in microbial chemical biology.
Job Duties
- Advances a number of research projects toward publication, using molecular and chemical biology to discover and study antibacterial microbial natural products.
- Works and coordinates with our small team, with our collaborators, and with core facilities to complete experiments and collect data in a timely manner.
- Receives training to use our in-house LCMS instrument and significant 1-on-1 assistance from the PI as needed to learn the methods needed to execute high priority projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with small molecule isolation methods, including column chromatography and
HPLC/LCMS, would be considered an asset. - Experience with NMR is useful, but not necessary.
- Familiarity with enzymology or protein expression and purification would be considered an asset.
- As intended research projects are at varying stages of progress towards impactful publications,
candidates with experience in independent scientific writing and communication are preferred. - Fluent in English; written and oral.
