Job Description

NBCUniversal is looking for a Director of Special Events to join our Marketing Team in Universal City, California! In this role, you will collaborate with clients to develop, plan, execute, and promote Special Events and promotional shoots on the lot.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the successful execution of high-profile/large-scale events and promotional shoots on the Universal Lot including but not limited to event producing, managing client budgets, vendor selection, creative direction, logistics, contracts, and final client billing
  • Focus on selling and building third party business model to meet increased revenue targets
  • Conduct sales outreach and develop relationships with key event planners in Los Angeles and beyond to generate third party event business
  • Manage a small team of event managers to ensure overall success of the Special Events department.
  • Manage a department budget / P&L to meet Event revenue targets
  • Manage space planning/booking/reservation project for a new multi-venue location to ensure efficient booking and client satisfaction
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners such as catering companies to provide optimal food/beverage service to clients with creative menu input and strategic pricing
  • Oversee creation of event marketing collateral and sales decks as well as conduct presentations to internal divisions and third-party clients (developing relationships is key!)
  • Attend trade shows, conventions and organization functions related to networking as needed
  • Collaborate and support Events social media account i.e. (capturing content, advise on schedule, brainstorm ideas, etc.)

  • Creative – You seems to always find a way to solve things no matter how perplexing they may first appear.
  • Analytical thinker and problem solver, with an eye for detail to ensure project specifications are aligned with our objectives.
  • Results-oriented and organized project manager experienced with balancing a diverse set of projects with a variety of both internal and external stakeholders.

What You Have…

  • 5+ years of team management experience, with demonstrated ability for successfully producing high-profile and large-scale events
  • 5+ years experience within the event industry from a venue standpoint to build third party business and revenue targets
  • Prior hands on experience with utilizing software such as: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc.
  • Prior experience with utilizing social media platforms
