Job Description:

Summary:

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is the hub for the student experience at American University. CSI facilitates leadership development, organizational advising, and programs that help foster a sense of belonging for the next generation of changemakers. Our office is home to Student Government, Student Activities Council, Student Media, AU Club Council, Recognized Student Organizations, Fraternity & Sorority Life and the Graduate Leadership Council.

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Student Involvement, the Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement facilitates student leadership and engagement opportunities. This position advises recognized undergraduate student organizations and student governance groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise and provide support for undergraduate student organizations and student leaders, including event planning, new club registration, club reactivation, annual renewal, general inquiries, and supporting dedicated RSO spaces in the Mary Graydon Student Center.

  • Advise dedicated student government branch(es) and student leaders through training, meeting attendance, and regular 1:1s.

  • Attend weekly CSI staff meetings.

  • Assist with Center for Student Involvement events including Welcome Week and Late Night and Weekend programming.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:

  • Part-Time.

  • 20 hours per week.

  • Able to work beginning mid-August 2025.

  • Some evenings and weekends required.

Salary Range:

  • $18.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience in and/or working with student organizations, leadership development, policy or advocacy initiatives.
