Job Description
The Manager of Content Programming will serve as key member of the Controllership Group within the TV Networks Group at Versant Media. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the media businesses and be a change agent. The position will report to the Senior Director, Programming Accounting and will work closely with the Senior Manager of Programming Accounting and the finance leadership across the group.
The Manager will own and be responsible for key operational controllership processes related to the programming accounting for Sports properties, News programs, and Entertainment programs.
- Work closely with TV Networks operational finance and legal to ensure clear understanding of contractual requirements and relevant production and monetization activities to determine timing of programming entries in connection with monthly close.
- Review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, ensure all necessary required adjustments and true ups are reflected in the ledger accurately, timely, and with clear audit trail and documentation.
- Oversee that all transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed and supported in accordance with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles and meeting SOX requirements.
- Perform financial statement reviews for relevant accounts (i.e. Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flows) to explain fluctuations, and prepare relevant schedules required to support external disclosure.
- Ensure that operational and design effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting is maintained and support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
- Involved in meetings and discussions with both external and internal audits for content in TV Networks.
- Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results
- Collaborate with controllership team and IT on process improvement opportunities and reporting system enhancements (e.g. amortization systems)
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance equivalent and 4+ years of relevant accountant/finance experience.
- CPA required.
- Knowledge of general accounting practices, financial accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Experience with managing staff and coaching.
- Experience working with auditors.
- Previous work experience in media industry a plus.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Subject to change based on Manager discussion or business need. This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000(bonus eligible)
