About the role

Description

Please read through the instructions to the right as well as the instructions provided below. Click on the button to the right to apply for the Foreign Language & Areas Studies Fellowship. You will be prompted to sign in to your Interfolio account or to create a new account. If you do not have an Interfolio account already, click on the link and follow the prompts to create an account. Select 'Free account' option. It may take some time to complete your Interfolio profile and gather the documents you need to apply for the FLAS fellowship. You may find it easiest to complete your profile and upload the required documents to your portfolio and then return to this page to begin the application process. You will be asked to provide the following documents for the FLAS fellowship application:

  • CV
  • Unofficial transcripts
  • 2 Letters of recommendation (you can send requests for letters from within the Interfolio application process)
  • A personal statement about your reasons for pursuing the FLAS fellowship program

During the "Customize Your Delivery" step of the application process, you will be given the option to "Add ID Numbers" to your delivery. Omit this step, and select Fill Out Application.

If you are applying as an undergraduate, please indicate your expected degree completion date in the Education Information portion of the application.

Qualifications

The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for a Penn FLAS is

  1. US citizenship or permanent residency status in the US, AND
  2. full-time enrollment (incoming or current) at the University of Pennsylvania or another FLAS-granting institution.

Application Instructions

 Complete applications are required by the following deadlines:

  • South Asia Language Fellowship: FEBRUARY 7, 2025.
  • East Asia Language Fellowship: JANUARY 10, 2025.
