The Electrical Engineer Intern position will be located in our Morristown, TN plant.
We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic student to join our team as a Electrical Engineer Summer Intern. This position will assist engineering and manufacturing in driving improvements in quality and delivery performance through process control and improvement initiatives.
The 2026 Summer Internship Program consists of 10-14 weeks of structured hands-on training involving plant tours, lunch & learn seminars, fun networking events to connect with fellow interns, and projects selected to add direct value to the business. At the conclusion of the program, each intern will present their projects to plant managers, supervisors, and mentors. An internship at Howmet Aerospace will provide an invaluable experience that you can utilize in any role, and it’s Howmet's goal to evaluate our interns for potential entry-level openings.
Key activities will include:
- Gather electrical panel information for Arc Flash Study and verify electrical equipment information for Thermal Imaging scanning.
- Electrical Arc Flash review and documentation for Thermal Imaging Scans and facility projects overview
While an internship with Howmet provides you with invaluable experience that you could utilize in any role, our goal is to evaluate interns for potential entry-level openings. With locations across the US, there are opportunities to work throughout the country.
Basic Qualifications:
- Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering (Materials Science, Metallurgical, Ceramic, or Chemical) from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Relevant internship/work/research experience a plus
