The University of Washington Information School is recruiting a talented iSchool MLIS or Museology student for the RA/GRSA position listed below.
We are seeking an RA/GRSA to support the Empowering Informed Communities project by creating information literacy resources for public libraries. This position offers the opportunity to bridge academic research with practical community applications by adapting existing information literacy materials for public library settings.
The RA/GRSA will work with the project team to transform research-based resources into accessible, professional materials that support both library workers and their patrons in navigating misinformation challenges.
Responsiblites:

Adapting existing Center for an Informed Public (CIP) materials for public library audiences, including converting school-based curricula into discrete, stand-alone programs

Modifying language and content to be more applicable and accessible to public library contexts

Creating resources to support librarians' understanding of misinformation topics and enable effective use of CIP materials

Designing professional development aids for library workers, including FAQ documents, misinformation basics explainers, and training materials

Creating patron-facing resources such as handouts, slide decks, and informational bookmarks

Professionalize resources by ensuring materials are visually appealing and enhance usability for practitioners

Become familiar with CIP research to understand community needs and recommend evidence-based solutions

Other research related duties as needed
Compensation:
Depending on summer enrollment, the pay for this position could range from $40.69/hour - $44.77/hour, or $2,984/month - $3,283/month, determined by the Graduate School RA/GRSA Salary Schedules. Qualifications
- Current MLIS (Residential or Online) or Museology student at the University of Washington Information School
- Experience working for or with public libraries
- Experience using Canva or similar software to create professional materials
- Strong attention to detail and ability to adapt content for different audiences
- Ability to work collaboratively with project team members
- Understanding of information literacy concepts and community engagement
- Ability to work 20 hours per week onsite or remotely as appropriate
- Desired: Experience updating WordPress sites
