Assistant Controller & Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized General Ledger & Closing Accountant to support and oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial accounting activities. This role is critical to ensuring a timely and accurate closing process, maintaining the integrity of financial data through journal entries, accrual management, foreign exchange calculations, and balance sheet reconciliations.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong attention to detail, and the ability to proactively identify and implement approved process improvements. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, countries, and external stakeholders.

 

Job Responsibilities

Month-End & Quarterly Closing Operations: 

• Prepare, review, and post monthly journal entries related to costs, accruals, prepayments, payroll actuals/accruals, and releases.
• Manage complex monthly accruals and subsequent reversals, including T&E, SIP/MIP, rebates, freight, insurance, temporary staff, and other supplemental accruals.
• Own period-closing activities for assigned subledgers and support the final monthly closing process across all relevant subledgers.
• Extract the monthly trial balance, perform regular tie-outs, and ensure ledger integrity for invoices and related accounts.
• Fixed assets review/control/ variances/ amortization process

 

Treasury, & Specialized Accounting:

• Maintain and update weekly and monthly foreign exchange rates in the ERP system.
• Perform monthly and quarterly foreign exchange revaluations, including hedging entries and realized/unrealized gain and loss recognition.
• Manage quarterly accounting entries for leases, customer relationship amortization, and DGA advances.
• Calculate and post quarterly interest and foreign exchange adjustments for corporate loans.
• Calculate and book quarterly bad debt provisions and allowance for doubtful accounts.

Compliance, Tax, & Reconciliations:

• Perform quarterly account reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and standard workbook preparation.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, support audit requests, and provide required documentation to internal and external auditors.
• ICAR (Intercompany Account Reconciliation). Review and Send OOB report to finance/AP & AR Team

Financial Audit Support:

• Support internal and external financial audit activities by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Respond to audit inquiries and provide accurate explanations of accounting balances, journal entries, and closing procedures.
• Collaborate with finance teams to resolve audit findings and support the implementation of agreed corrective actions.

Core Skills / Competency Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA, or local CECCAR) is a strong plus.
• 3–5+ years of experience in General Ledger (GL) accounting, corporate accounting, or month-end closing processes.
• Strong proficiency in major ERP software (SAP & Microsoft Business Central, etc.).
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, financial modeling, handling large data extractions).
• Solid understanding of multi-currency environments, FX hedging, IFRS/US GAAP standards for accruals, and lease accounting.
• Exceptional time management ability to meet strict weekly, monthly, and quarterly closing deadlines.
• High attention to detail with the ability to spot variances during trial balance tie-outs.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
