Laboratory Director of Operations

Job Summary:

Managing overall Lab operations; developing procedures to ensure safety, security, quality and accuracy of results; designing test procedures; analyzing requests for tests and equipment; tending to administrative and management matters; acting as a consultant and assisting in Laboratory budget matters. Supervises Laboratory staff and has interrelationships with the Managerial Staff and other Hospital employees.

Responsibilities:

• Minimum four years of Clinical Laboratory experience with supervisory responsibilities
• Must demonstrate competency in service to different patient population such as Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics
• Yearly Capital and Operational Budgets
• Daily operations of the Clinical Laboratory
• Oversees the workflow and provides solution if need be
• Ensures that Laboratory Standards continually meet Joint Commission Regulations
• Reviews Laboratory testing, Billing Issues and Resolution
• Conducts Staff Meetings at least every 2 months
• Reviews competency of the Staff
• Keeps a working relationship with other departments throughout the hospital
• Handles Personnel issues and disciplinary actions

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• B.S. in Medical Technology or a related field
• Completion of a registry exam given by a Nationally recognized certifying agency

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledgeable in medical technology
• Knowledgeable in management principles
• Strong communication skills
• Possess a great work ethic
• Must be able to handle stress of working efficiently with frequent interruptions

Physical Requirements:

• Sitting 4-6 hours a day
• Full use of both hands, wrist deviation (side to side and up and down) 2-6 hours a day
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
• Occasionally be exposed to hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases
