Purpose of the Position:

The Manager of Educational Project Management leads a team of project managers to deliver educational initiatives on time, within scope, and on budget at a non-profit distance higher education institution. This role oversees the development and implementation of a Curriculum Project Management Office (CPMO) to standardize project management practices. Additionally, the Manager ensures alignment with institutional goals and fosters collaboration among faculty, instructional designers, and leadership.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Recruit, train, and manage a team of project managers, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  2. Design, establish, and oversee the Curriculum Project Management Office (CPMO) to standardize project management practices across educational initiatives.
  3. Develop and implement CPMO policies, processes, and frameworks to ensure consistency and efficiency in project execution.
  4. Oversee the development of project plans, timelines, and deliverables for educational initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities. Manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources while meeting financial constraints.
  5. Monitor project progress, address risks, and ensure timely communication with stakeholders. Provide regular status reports, ensuring transparency and accountability for all projects.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient resource allocation and project execution. Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding project updates, risks, and deliverables.
  7. Refine and evolve CPMO project management processes, tools, and templates to improve efficiency and consistency.
  8. Lead with Care: Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of wellness, recognition, and engagement. Meet regularly with direct reports in one-on-one and group settings to provide feedback and cultivate/maintain a positive work culture.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring a team of project managers, including setting goals, performance evaluations, and providing professional development opportunities.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple, complex projects in the education or e-learning sector.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Lean).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
  • Project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP
