Accounts Payable Job Description

Accounts Payable professionals are responsible for managing the financial obligations of a company by ensuring that invoices are accurate, approved, and properly recorded. They play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Invoice Management: Receive, review, and verify invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable ledger with vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to tax regulations (e.g., W-9, sales tax) and internal financial controls.
  • Reporting: Generate reports on payables status, cash flow, and aging invoices for management review.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
