About the role:

As a Senior Linux and Systems engineer, you will perform complex Linux systems administration, hardware qualification and delivery, and provide technical leadership in development, performance, and delivery of our products and services

You will report to the Manager - Software Systems Technology, and be located in Cranberry Township, PA. This is a hybrid role

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Perform system administration of corporate Engineering Linux platforms, and delivery and hardware maintenance of qualified Linux platforms to contracted nuclear utility customers.  This includes installation and configuration of the base operating system, participating in the design and deployment of security updates, coordination of customer site delivery and maintenance visits, and ongoing support of Linux systems in the corporate and customer environments.  Expectation of working with engineering users to deploy applications and resolve issues.
• Travel to customer sites up to 1-2 times per month (1 to 2 weeks per month) to perform technical work
• Receive training and feedback from experienced mentor, and mentor others
• Provide troubleshooting for corporate Linux engineering environment
• Design, integrate, modify, and maintain Linux OS releases for internal and external use
• Lead receipt inspection, configuration, and shipment of customer hardware
• Perform on-site customer hardware deliveries, OS upgrades, security updates and preventive maintenance including system installation, integration, and end-user and system administration training
• Develop customer proposals including technical scope descriptions, schedules and cost estimates
• Maintain active customer projects in SAP

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience
• Bachelor's Degree in or equivalent in the following disciplines: Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or another related field
• Linux Expertiseo   4+ years of experience (preferable SUSE)   Have a mindset for independently identifying, analyzing, and solving variety of system related problems
• Practical experience with:Networking and Network File Systems (NFS)Disk [RAID] configurationBIOS/UEFI and iLOMultiple user authentication methods and access restrictionSystem patchingLinux firewall experience
• Business travel.  Travel to domestic and international customer sites up to 1-2 times per month (1 to 2 weeks) to perform technical work
