About the role

Grant Thornton is seeking a Senior Director – Value Creation Office (VCO) to join the team in New York, NY or Iselin, NJ.

Grant Thornton is seeking a high-impact Senior Director to join our Value Creation Office (VCO)—an internal transformation team focused on driving performance improvement, process redesign, and operational efficiency across the firm.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. You’ll partner with senior functional leaders across Finance, HR, IT, Risk, Legal, and other ICS functions to identify opportunities for improvement, design future-state workflows, and drive execution with a focus on measurable outcomes.

You will play a key role in helping the firm evolve toward a function-led, geographically agnostic shared services model, which enables us to scale smarter, optimize costs, and improve the quality of internal service delivery—regardless of physical location. This role will support that model by organizing and enabling better collaboration across our U.S., Ireland, and India platforms, while working closely with our leadership teams on end-to-end transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Strategy and Transformation

  • Lead strategic initiatives that identify and deliver value across internal functions—driving cost optimization, automation, and improved service quality.
  • Design and implement future-state operating models that support scalability, efficiency, and excellence across key ICS areas.
  • Analyze current processes and organizational structures to identify inefficiencies, duplications, or legacy structures that can be streamlined or modernized.

Shared Services Enablement

  • Help structure and operationalize a firm-wide shared services strategy, with a focus on aligning functions (e.g., Finance, HR, IT) to a consistent and scalable delivery framework.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders in the U.S., Ireland, and India to drive cohesion across geographies and eliminate siloed operating practices.
  • Support the transition of appropriate workstreams into shared services environments in a thoughtful and well-governed way—emphasizing service levels, consistency, and career development opportunities across all locations.

Execution and Change Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional project teams from ideation through execution, including scoping, project planning, implementation, and value tracking.
  • Serve as an internal advisor and execution partner to function leaders seeking to modernize their teams and delivery models.
  • Work with HR and Communications teams to ensure strong change management practices are embedded in all transformation efforts.

Performance Tracking and Governance

  • Define KPIs, OKRs, and tracking mechanisms to monitor performance of all transformation initiatives.
  • Deliver concise, high-impact reporting and executive updates to senior leadership.
  • Maintain a firm-wide value realization tracker to ensure transparency and accountability.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or a related field; MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • 10–15 years of total experience with a background in internal finance, management consulting, transformation leadership, or corporate strategy.
  • Proven success designing and executing enterprise-level transformations, preferably within a professional services or partnership model.
  • Experience with shared services strategy and implementation, including global models, is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and structured thinking skills, with the ability to break down complex challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills—able to work cross-functionally and credibly engage with senior leaders.
  • Highly collaborative leadership style with a bias toward results and execution.

The base salary range for this position in the firms Iselin, NJ or New York, NY offices only is between $202,500 and $337,500 per year.
