What you’ll need to succeed as a Senior Engineer, Engineering Test (Data & Analytics) at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 2 years of experience with algorithms using Python. Experience in quality assurance and Java is a plus
- Strong problem-solving mindset, and ability to analyze technical and non-technical problems by developing research questions, implementing appropriate analytical methods, and presenting results
- Strong analytical/reasoning skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Interest/openness to learn/explore about Less-Than-Truckload business and usage of advanced analytics methods/tools to support complex strategic/tactical/operational business decisions
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment with different stakeholders
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in data analytics, working with large and complex datasets to extract insights. Skilled in cleaning, transforming, and analyzing messy data using Python/Pandas and SQL
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for the intended audience
- Solid organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to be open-minded and receptive to feedback in an intellectually-rigorous environment
- Energetic work style with a strong drive to succeed
- Self-motivated instincts with the ability to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment and consult with team members/management as needed
About the Senior Engineer, Engineering Test (Data & Analytics) job:
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Gain System Understanding
- Participate in KT (Knowledge Transfer) sessions with business, developers, and IT teams to understand models supporting LTL (Less Than Truckload) business and their interactions with each system.
- Interpret and Improve Models
- Analyze models and test results, providing feedback to developers and business users to drive improvements.
- Develop Testing and Network Analysis Tools
- Initiate ideas and solutions to prevent or reduce defects, convincing others of the validity of potential solutions
- Create tools to validate the optimization instructions for trailer, shipment, tractor, and driver routing.
- Design and develop network analysis tools to support model evaluations and decision-making.
- Conduct Root-Cause Analysis
- Perform root-cause analysis and investigations to identify and resolve underlying issues within the systems and models.
- Partner with all personnel, as well as customer and supplier representatives, on quality issues; investigate, resolve, and respond to customer complaints
