Security Aide will Provide information and assistance to the public. Enter and retrieve information, complete reports, forms, provide crowd and/or traffic control, and perform other related duties and responsibilities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Respond in support of sworn officers, police calls, emergency medical calls and reports of crime investigations. 2. Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; inspect buildings, equipment, and access points permitting entry. 3. Conduct screening of personnel to ensure compliance with operating basic security equipment such as x-ray machine, hand wands at all screening checkpoints; may apply mechanical restraints such as cuff and/or leg irons. 4. Contact law enforcement in cases of urgent security issues; conduct searches for materials that may jeopardize the safety of persons and the security points. 5. Monitor person flow through screening checkpoints to ensure order and efficiency to include crowd control. 6. Have extensive knowledge of, comply with, and enforce policies and procedures. 7. Provide customer service to internal and external customers at all times. 8. Ensure all shift logs, maintenance requests and or other required documentation is completed and in accordance with policy and procedures. 9. Know and follow the organization chain of command for the various areas working. 10. Communicate any/all situations and job performance issues with supervisors as soon as possible to ensure that corrective measures can be taken quickly. 11. Perform duties in a manner that emphasizes the safety and security of inmates, staff and citizens. 12. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED and 0 years of experience. Work experience in security, safety or law enforcement is desirable. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS PREFERENCES 1. Work experience in security, safety or law enforcement is preferred. The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following: 1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination, including a color acuity test. Must pass an extensive background investigation, the Bernalillo County pre-employment medical examination, and audio and eye tests. 2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County. 3. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position. 4. Employee must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license by employment date and maintain a valid NM driver’s license while employed in this position. 5. Must pass a written and oral board examination. 6. Shiftwork required, nights, weekends and holidays. 7. Must be 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States. WORKING CONDITIONS 1.
