Automation Maintenance Supervisor A Shift

SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Supervisor ensures that all maintenance activities and operations are smoothly conducted and that all systems of the facility are appropriately functioning. Follow all standard operating procedures of the plant.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for supervising between 4-6 subordinates who perform somewhat identical and related tasks or activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assign work activity prior to shift; requires MP2 proficiency.
• Lead a team of subordinates and delegated work functions to them.
• Provide training to new employees.
• Plan and organize work shifts for the timely completion of all maintenance activities.
• Inspect all maintenance processes and evaluate the work of subordinates.
• Organize job training activities for all subordinates.
• Maintain proper shift cycles for maintenance activities.
• Coordinate all work processes with other internal departments of the organization.
• Comply with all plant policies and the Occupational Safety and Health rules (OSHA) while conducting maintenance processes.
• Must practice compliance with all state and federal food safety regulations.
• Maintain inventory and tools.
• Must practice Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and plant policies.
• Must have experience with electrical systems, including PLC controls a plus.
• Must have experience with hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and welding and fabrication skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

Must have a High School Diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution and 2 – 3 years of experience in a meat processing facility or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: 

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.

 

KNOWLEDGE:

None required.

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

None required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Must communicate with USDA, production, and management personnel effectively.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Demonstrated ability to understand basic statistics for process control.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available. SQF Certification preferred.
