Job Description
Turner and Townsend are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Electrical Engineering with a strong focus on data center design and operations. This role will lead electrical engineering initiatives for mission-critical facilities, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Oversee electrical engineering design for data center projects from concept through commissioning.
- Develop and implement electrical infrastructure strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to best practices.
Design & Technical Expertise
- Lead design of power distribution systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and grounding systems.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
- Collaborate with mechanical and IT teams for integrated solutions.
Project Management
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for multiple projects.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Review and approve electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Risk & Reliability
- Implement redundancy strategies (N+1, 2N) for critical systems.
- Conduct failure mode analysis and develop contingency plans.
- Ensure uptime and reliability targets are met or exceeded.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 10+ years in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in data center design or operations.
- Certifications: PE license strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Expertise in power systems, load calculations, and energy efficiency.
- Familiarity with Tier standards (Uptime Institute) and data center best practices.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Large-scale data center projects (hyperscale or enterprise).
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration and sustainability practices.
- Experience with BIM and electrical modeling software.
