All About You

Job Summary: This position is for a Ph.D. with a strong track record in research and scholarship in the field of immunobiology that will play a critical role in advancing research initiatives and contributing to academic and scientific endeavors.  A strong record of first authored publications, history of success in competing for grant (NIH preferred) funded projects, and mentoring trainees is desired. The person will be expected to help lead and grow a research program through external grant funding, teach in the School of Medicine, mentor trainees in their research, and contribute to supporting other activities in the department as needed.  This person will have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, while furthering a career in science and academia. Must be an excellent communicator and have strong organizational skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct Research: Undertake independent and collaborative research projects in the designated field of expertise, contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the area.
  • Publication: Publish research findings in reputable academic journals, conferences, and other scholarly outlets, actively disseminating research results.
  • Grant Writing: Prepare and submit grant proposals to secure external funding for research projects, ensuring financial support for ongoing and future research initiatives.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate students, fostering their professional development and involvement in research projects.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues and researchers within and outside the institution to encourage interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange.
  • Teaching: Depending on departmental needs, may have the opportunity to deliver lectures, seminars, or workshops, sharing expertise with undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze research data using appropriate methodologies, statistical tools, and software, and interpret findings accurately.
  • Conference Participation: Present research findings at national and international conferences, engaging in academic discourse and networking with peers in the field.
  • Research Proposal Development: Assist in the development and preparation of research proposals, including experimental design, protocols, and budgeting.
  • Ethical Conduct: Ensure research activities adhere to ethical standards and guidelines, prioritizing the responsible and ethical conduct of research.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree: A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in the relevant field is required.
  • Research Expertise: A strong track record of research accomplishments and publications in peer-reviewed journals related to the field of expertise.
  • Grant Writing: Demonstrated ability to secure research funding through grant proposals from government agencies, foundations, or other sources.
  • Teaching Experience: Prior experience in teaching, mentoring, or advising undergraduate or graduate students is a plus.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues from diverse academic backgrounds and engage in interdisciplinary research.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and relevant software tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present research findings effectively.
  • Ethical Conduct: Commitment to upholding ethical standards in research and maintaining the highest level of integrity.
  • Team Player: Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, fostering a collaborative and inclusive research environment.
