White Oak of Charlotte is accepting applications for a Full-time 1st shift Assistant Director of Nursing.
Purpose: To assist the DON with monitoring and overseeing the Nursing Department and to assist in maintaining Federal Regulations and White Oak Management, Inc. Policies and Procedures.
DUTIES:
- Is required to be on-call as assigned and as necessary for emergencies.
- Is required to assume the responsibilities of the Director of Nursing, when necessary.
- Receives daily report from Charge Nurses, including 24-hour shift report.
- Direction exercised: Acts as liaison between nursing staff and the Director of Nursing.
- Assists in periodic evaluation of nursing personnel and daily nursing assignments for continuity of care. Spot checks resident clinical records regularly, for irregularities and needed areas of improvements.
- Attend in-service programs relevant to field of work and ongoing education plans to keep knowledgeable.
- Attend regularly scheduled nursing meetings.
- Assist Staff Coordinator with classes, in-services, etc., as needed.
- Check time sheets as needed for adequate staffing.
- Along with DON and Administrator, assists with interviewing of applicants for employment as needed.
- Check daily drug orders for accuracy.
- Responsible for securing all discontinued drugs and reviewing them with the Pharmacist for proper disposal, in accordance with guidelines in infection control and State regulations as assigned.
- Attend QI / QA meetings and assist with leading meeting in the absence of the DON.
- Assist Charge Nurse with floor duty in emergency or as needed.
- Shares responsibilities with Unit Coordinator for monthly drug review, review of resident care plans, reviewing of physicians orders.
- Follow up laboratory results.
- Attends pharmaceutical meetings quarterly and assists DON as to staff carrying out policy and procedures as indicated in manual.
- Serves as role model for nursing personnel as to personal appearance, Dress Code, adherence to Residents Rights, Abuse and Neglect Policies and the Safety Program.
- Assist with developing and/or updating procedures and forms as necessary.
- May authorize overtime work of nursing personnel and verify actual time worked by employees.
- Coordinately responsible with DON for adherence by unit employees of all company rules and policies.
- Assist social department with family concerns and special request or situations of resident or family.
- Assist activity department with resident outings and/or other activities as needed.
- Assist with obtaining responsible party and/or resident permission for administration of flu/ pneumonia vaccine on annual basis as indicated.
- Acts as Resident Care Coordinator within the guidelines of the facility policies and procedures governing that title.
- Makes frequent rounds throughout the facility.
- Demonstrate competency using current clinical software system.
- During the absence of DON, the ADON shall assume the duties as necessary to the position.
- Adheres to facility No Lift Policy.
