Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
JOB PURPOSE: The Quality Improvement Medical Assistant serves as a liaison between the Quality Department and front-line clinical staff to deliver training on workflows around understanding and improving Quality metrics.
The QI-MA will help train other staff members on EHR tools and interpretation of Quality Data to efficiently and effectively optimize closing of gaps in care
These duties and tasks will be in addition to fulfilling all the assigned duties, tasks, assignments, and responsibilities of a Medical Assistant when not performing the QI MA functions and assigned responsibilities.
The QI Medical Assistant works with staff to develop, understand, and spread best practice workflow under the supervision of the leadership of the Quality Dept.
Essential Job Functions:
• Completes all assigned instructional and administrative duties, tasks, and assignments supporting departmental or organizational operations within established time frames; meeting established rates of performance for the quality and quantity of work for the position; demonstrating a level of quality, efficiency, and accuracy in the employee’s job performance that ensures the highest standards of excellence.
• Maintains a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) approach; continuously gathering and assessing data for use in improving individual and department performance, as well as contributing to the development of more efficient and effective training program or instructional delivery.
• Gains and maintains the skills and ability to facilitate training and instruction to end-user participants using a variety of instructional methods; acquires an introductory understanding of teaching styles and instructional methods that meet defined training objectives utilizing effective application of adult learning theories and principles.
• Supports personnel conducting development of training program or course content and materials for instructional programs utilizing standardized academic design and development principles, theories, and practices for adult learner.
• Supports employees serving as a point of contact for end-user technical support and Subject matter expert level assistance for clinical workflows
• Demonstrates an exceptional level of customer service, answering and responding to all incoming calls, emails, and inquiries in a timely and effective manner, responds to requests for support providing general information in response to inquiries.

• Communicates effectively through written, verbal, and interpersonal skills as applied when interacting with employees, internal/external clients, or representatives, successfully conveying and exchanging information in a positive and effective manner.
• Employees entering clinic sites must comply with El Rio Health fingerprinting requirements.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this position
• Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
• A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
• Two (2) years’ experience working as a medical assistant (Strong IM/FM experience preferred)
• Six (6) months working as a medical assistant using Epic as the EMR system
If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
• Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved and accredited educational or vocational training program.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.
• Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
• Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.
Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities:
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages
