General Description and Classification Standards
The Fleet Analyst is responsible for managing and optimizing the organization’s vehicle fleet operations. This role involves analyzing fleet data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key duties include tracking vehicle usage and maintenance, coordinating repairs, and monitoring fuel consumption. The Fleet Analyst will also evaluate vendor performance, prepare reports on fleet metrics, and provide insights to guide decision-making on vehicle acquisition and lifecycle management. Additionally, this role ensures adherence to safety protocols and participates in developing policies for fleet sustainability.

Vehicle and Equipment Inspection
- Inspects a range of APD vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with warranty, farm-out, and recall standards.
- Evaluates and selects vendors based on repair costs, type, turnaround time, and equipment priority.
- Oversee the repair process at vendor locations through completion and coordinates equipment delivery and pickup.
Record Keeping and Work Order Management
- Maintains detailed logs on all equipment information, open and closes work orders, issues commercial charges, and decals/numbers equipment for tracking.
- Acquires product and technical specifications to stay updated on equipment technology and model changes.
Budgeting and Scheduling
Plans and manages annual budgets, equipment deliveries, and weekly schedules.
Prepares, receives, and reviews documentation such as purchase orders, invoices, farm-out work orders, and surplus forms.
Documentation and Reporting
Develops and reviews various reports and documents, including annual budget lists, equipment files, vendor farm-out sheets and monthly reports
Keeps abreast of industry developments through training, research and conferences
Decision Making
Exercises independent judgment in handling emergency situations, setting priorities, and maintaining standards for fleet operations.
Leadership Provided
Serves as a technical resource or mentor to other employees, guiding less experienced workers through complex or technical tasks.

Mechanical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and equipment practices, policies, and procedures necessary for daily operations, as well as applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and interact with subordinates, management, colleagues, and the general public.
Adaptability: Ability to stay informed of changes in policies, methods, operations, and budgetary requirements as they relate to departmental functions and automotive/mechanical operations.
Analytical Skills: Proficient in evaluating technical information and vendor proposals, enabling informed decision-making regarding equipment and repairs.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely completion of repairs and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. <
