Job Opening:

The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for Environmental Analyst Intern (Unpaid Internship). Dates 6-1-26 to 8-14-26.

This internship is unpaid and designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field.  Candidates may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university.

Applicants interested in gaining hands-on, real-world experience in environmental science are encouraged to apply for a seasonal internship with the Environmental Quality Section of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Water Supply Protection (DCR-DWSP), Wachusett Reservoir Watershed. The candidate selected for this position will work directly with DWSP staff on a range of fieldwork and data management tasks associated with environmental monitoring for the purposes of water resources protection.   The individual will learn about and assist with a variety of water quality monitoring programs, including tributary water sampling, groundwater monitoring, and collecting data from sensors located within the Wachusett Reservoir Watershed. Office duties may include calibrating field and lab equipment as well as data management and analysis. With the guidance of their Environmental Analyst supervisor, a small research/data science project will be conducted as part of this position.   The intern will also have the opportunity to shadow other DWSP staff (e.g. biologists, environmental planners, foresters). The program may be adjusted to accommodate the intern’s needs for earning academic credit or stipend through their academic institution.  Applicants should submit a resume and cover letter detailing their experience and interest in the position.

 

DUTIES:

-Assist with field work including tributary and groundwater sampling in the Wachusett Reservoir Watershed.��

-Assist with various data management tasks associated with environmental datasets.
