Description
The Director of Medical Economics will play a crucial role in overseeing our value-based care contracts, analyzing performance data, and developing strategies to optimize our financial and clinical outcomes. This position requires a leader who can effectively translate complex data into actionable insights and collaborate across multiple departments to achieve organizational objectives.
Requirements
Value-Based Care Contract Oversight:
- Monitor and analyze the performance of VBC contracts
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and quality improvement
- Develop strategies to optimize contract performance
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Utilize population health tools in partnership with population health teams
- Develop and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics
- Create comprehensive reports to track progress and inform decision-making
Strategic Planning:
- Develop financial and utilization targets for successful participation in VBC contracts
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the organization's value-based care initiatives
Leadership and Communication:
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and management
- Provide expert guidance on medical economics and value-based care
- Communicate complex data and concepts in a clear, actionable manner
Benchmarking:
- Identify and analyze national and regional benchmarks
- Assess organizational performance against these benchmarks
- Identify improvement opportunities based on benchmark comparisons
Additional Responsibilities:
Policy Analysis:
- Stay informed about federal and state healthcare policy changes
- Analyze potential impacts of policy changes on VBC contracts
- Provide recommendations for adapting to policy shifts
Population Health Initiatives:
- Partner with the Population Health Team to develop analysis and reporting
- Support initiatives aimed at reducing utilization and spend
- Identify trends and opportunities for population health interventions
Payer Relationship Management:
- Review monthly/quarterly performance reports from payers and population health tools
- Collaborate with payer relations team to optimize contract terms and performance
- Provide data-driven insights for contract negotiations
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with clinical operations, data analytics, and population health teams
- Facilitate information sharing and alignment across departments
- Support the achievement of organizational objectives through collaborative efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in healthcare analytics, medical economics, or related field
- Strong understanding of value-based care models, population health management, and healthcare finance
- Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical methods
- Experience with population health management software and healthcare data systems
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful strategies in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of healthcare policy and regulatory environment
