Are you a skilled RN or LPN with a heart for children and a passion for complex care? At Home of the Innocents, we provide vital, life-enriching services for medically fragile children—and we need compassionate nurses like you on our Pediatric Ventilator Unit.
A Day in the Life
As an RN or LPN in our Kosair for Kids Complex Care Center (KCC), you’ll provide high-quality care to children and young adults with respiratory and medical complexities. This includes managing tracheostomies, ventilators, and feeding tubes, while collaborating with respiratory therapists and support staff. You’ll ensure our residents receive dignified, holistic care in a nurturing environment.
How This Position Contributes to Our Mission
• Provide direct nursing care to children with vents, trachs, G-tubes, and seizure disorders
• Monitor respiratory status and collaborate with RTs for ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Educate staff on vent and trach care, medication administration, and emergency protocols
• Ensure timely documentation, med pass, and adherence to care plans
• Promote a trauma-informed, child-centered approach in every interaction
Shift Options: Self-Scheduling, Full-time Night Shifts - 7PM - 7AM
Training: 5 weeks of hands-on training (15 shifts)
Nurse-to-Resident Ratio: 5–6 residents per nurse, with support from CNAs, RTs, and other nurses
RN or LPN Skills and Qualifications
• Current RN or LPN license in the state of Kentucky.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Previous experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or long-term care preferred but not required.
• Open to gaining or expanding experience with vents, trachs, and medically complex care.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for working with children and families.
• Commitment to trauma-informed care and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
