Job Overview: 

We are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to lead the integration and validation of wireless connectivity solutions—including Wi-Fi, Cellular (LTE-M/NB-IoT), BLE, and GPS—in our next-generation battery-powered IoT devices. This role will work closely with ODM and JDM partners, overseeing the development and integration of wireless subsystems from concept to mass production. You’ll bring technical depth in embedded wireless systems along with strong communication skills to manage and guide external development teams toward high-quality, power-efficient, and reliable firmware delivery. 

Responsibilities: 

Wireless Integration Oversight 

Lead the specification, review, and validation of BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular, and GPS modules

integrated by ODM/JDM partners into embedded systems. 

Partner Collaboration 

 Serve as the primary firmware point of contact for ODM and JDM partners. 

 Define technical requirements, review partner firmware deliverables, and ensure alignment with product specifications and performance goals. 

Power Optimization 

Define and review low-power operation strategies, sleep modes, and radio duty cycling approaches to meet battery life targets for field-deployed devices. 

Connectivity & Protocols 

Guide implementation and troubleshooting of IoT protocols (MQTT, HTTP, CoAP) over wireless stacks.

Ensure secure and reliable communication through TLS/DTLS and VPNs as applicable. 

System Bring-Up & Validation 

Collaborate with partners to bring up wireless modules on custom hardware.
Lead debugging efforts for connectivity, RF performance, and interoperability issues. 

OTA & Provisioning 

Define and review OTA firmware update workflows, secure provisioning methods, and remote configuration management for wireless-connected devices. 

Field Readiness & Certification 

Support wireless testing and certification processes (FCC, CE, carrier certification). Ensure ODM/JDM partners meet regulatory and field performance requirements. 

Required Qualifications 

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline. 

 5+ years of embedded firmware development experience focused on wireless connectivity for IoT devices. 

Strong experience collaborating with ODM/JDM partners to deliver embedded systems or consumer electronics products. 

Hands-on expertise with BLE, Wi-Fi, Cellular (LTE-M/NB-IoT), and GNSS/GPS modules and firmware stacks. 

Proven ability to guide low-power firmware design and wireless optimization for battery-operated devices. 

 Familiarity with MCU platforms (ARM Cortex-M) and RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, etc.). 

 Strong debugging skills using RF tools, protocol analyzers, and embedded development environments.

Solid understanding of IoT protocols, embedded security practices (secure boot, encrypted communications), and OTA workflows. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Experience with global ODMs/JDMs delivering products at scale. 

Familiarity with wireless module/RFIC vendors (Quectel, u-blox, Nordic, Murata, SiLabs) and their SDKs. 

Exposure to factory firmware, production test support, and DFx. 

Experience with cloud-connected IoT systems (AWS IoT, Azure IoT). Comfort with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation or testing.
