Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job:

As the RN Program Manager at Wrangell Medical Center, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and high-quality care within the Emergency Department, Trauma Services, and Acute Medical Services. Here are the key responsibilities and accountabilities of this exciting leadership position:

  • Daily Workflow Management: Oversee the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training, and development of employees within the ER and Acute medical department services. Your leadership will ensure that the team is well-prepared and efficient in delivering top-notch care.
  • Hospital Liaison: Act as the hospital liaison with all pre-hospital emergency medical services and area Trauma referral centers, fostering strong relationships and seamless communication.
  • Multidisciplinary Approach: Organize services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach throughout the continuum of trauma care, ensuring comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  • Trauma Program Performance: Assume responsibility for the clinical and financial performance of the Trauma Program, driving excellence and efficiency in trauma care.
  • Quality Improvement: Lead ongoing quality and performance improvement processes related to trauma care, continuously enhancing patient outcomes and care standards.
  • Meeting Facilitation: Facilitate Emergency Prep, ED, and Acute staff meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Committee Participation: Participate on committees and task forces as assigned, contributing your expertise and insights to various hospital initiatives.
  • Collaborative Care: Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all ED, trauma, and acute care patients, fostering a positive and cohesive work environment.
  • Staff Nurse Role: May be required to work as a staff nurse when needed to ensure staffing coverage of departments, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to patient care.
  • Policy Support: Support and interpret policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the hospital, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Employee Satisfaction: Facilitate staff analyses and improvement plans for ED/Acute care employee satisfaction workgroups, promoting a positive and supportive work culture.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Monitor customer satisfaction scores and implement plans for improvement, ensuring a high level of patient and family satisfaction.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement, driving continuous enhancement of care delivery.
  • Departmental Dashboards: Maintain departmental dashboards that include information and progress on pillars of excellence (People, Service, Quality, Finance, and Leadership), providing clear and actionable insights.
  • Complaint Resolution: Investigate patient, physician, and staff complaints and concerns, working toward resolutions that enhance satisfaction and care quality.
  • Performance Evaluations: Complete annual performance evaluations for self and employees, implementing plans of correction when needed to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Budget Management: Contribute to budget building and maintenance, leading cost-efficient and effective operations, and creating plans of correction for any operating expenses that deviate more than 5% from budget.
