The Project Manager, Revenue Cycle, reports directly to the Chief Revenue Officer and is responsible for delivering a wide range of project management and operational support across the full spectrum of revenue cycle operations. This position manages a portfolio of projects aimed at improving patient access, billing, collections, charge integrity, and reimbursement outcomes. Key responsibilities include project planning, execution, status reporting, stakeholder coordination, and risk mitigation. The Project Manager will work cross-functionally with Finance PMO, IT Revenue Cycle (ITRC) Project Managers, and clinical and operational leaders to ensure successful project outcomes and sustainable operational improvements. This role plays a critical part in advancing technology integration, supporting enterprise initiatives, and promoting data-driven decision-making across the Revenue Cycle. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in project and portfolio management, healthcare systems implementation, and change management in large-scale, complex healthcare organizations.
Essential Duties:
- Lead and manage multiple revenue cycle projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Finance PMO, ITRC, Patient Access, HIM, Billing, and Clinical Operations—to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource allocations, and maintain accountability for project execution and outcomes.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies; ensure proactive mitigation strategies are in place.
- Conduct regular project status meetings and provide timely updates to stakeholders, including executive leadership and department heads.
- Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagement, including the scheduling of meetings, preparation of agendas, and documentation of meeting notes and action items.
- Prepare and distribute clear and effective project communications, including dashboards, timelines, decision logs, and issue trackers.
- Monitor and report on project performance using KPIs, dashboards, and other analytic tools to ensure progress toward desired outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CMS), and payer-specific billing rules.
- Drive operational readiness by supporting training, workflow redesign, and change management related to new technologies, processes, or initiatives.
- Partner with leadership to assess project impacts and sustainability, and contribute to post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:
- Req Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
- In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, additional 2 years of direct project management/healthcare revenue cycle operations related experience.
- Req 5 years of progressive project management experience, with at least 3 years in healthcare revenue cycle operations.
- Req Proven track record managing large, cross-functional projects in a healthcare provider setting, including technology implementation, workflow optimization, and process redesign.
- Req Strong understanding of revenue cycle functions such as registration, coding, billing, A/R, denials, and collections.
- Req Experience collaborating with IT and Finance teams in healthcare organizations.
- Req Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Req Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent.
- Req Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment and influence without direct authority.
- Req Experience working in or with integrated delivery networks (IDNs), academic medical centers, or large health systems.
- Req Familiarity with the regional payer landscape and reimbursement structures (Medi-Cal, Medicare, managed care, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pref Master’s degree In MHA, MBA, MPH, or related field.
- Pref Experience with Epic, Cerner, or other enterprise EHR and billing systems.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
- Pref Specialty Certification PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent project/process improvement certification.
